An antique 17th century Flemish historical tapestry, size 7' H x 11' W, depicting the Roman general Coriolanus, enthroned at left, with his domineering mother Volumnia and his wife Virgilia pleading with him not to be fooled by the false promises of the rebellious Volsci. Possibly woven by the renowned weaver, Francois Grellet. Enclosed within narrow monochromatic borders. Wool with silk inlay. Very good condition. A wonderful find, and an amazing enhancement to one's interior decor!
Hanging:
The tapestry comes ready for hanging, with linen backing and a strip of hook and loop tape at the top end, which can be connected to the opposite side of the supplied hook and loop tape, which could be tacked to your wall. For those who prefer the use of a tapestry rod, we can add the appropriate size loops to accommodate your needs.
