Print entitled "Une Leçon de Plein Chant" from a work by José Gallegos Y Arnosa (1853-1917).
Set in 19th-century Spain, the scene depicts young choristers during their singing lesson in a religious building.
The troupe is led by the cantor and accompanied by two wind instruments.
This print, signed lower right JGallegos Paris 1883, is set off by a rosewood veneer frame highlighted by a double lemon fillet.
A Leçon de Plein Chant shows us an ordinary scene reproduced in the world of religion, masterfully reproduced.
José Gallegos y Arnosa (1857-1917) was a Spanish painter and sculptor who was a master of precious realism. He won the Gold Medal at the Berlin International Fine Arts Exhibition in 1891.
