Crafted in France circa 1840, the tall lamp is constructed of tole metal and finished in a soft, pale green and cream palette with contrasting black decorative motifs.

The lamp stands on a stepped square base decorated with repeating classical medallions. Above, a raised rectangular pedestal is embellished on all four sides with finely detailed military scenes depicting Napoleonic soldiers in uniform, mounted cavalry officers, and soldiers gathered in formation. The delicate black illustrations contrast with the pale painted background, giving the piece a distinctive historical character.

Rising from the pedestal is a tall cylindrical column further embellished with decorative medallions and classical motifs. The lamp is fitted with a two-light brass fixture featuring porcelain candle sleeves and a convenient pull-chain switch. A circular ring finial completes the composition. The original-style painted finish retains charming signs of age, including subtle wear and scattered patination, enhancing its authentic antique appearance.

Perfect for a library, study, living room, or entryway, this antique French tole lamp is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, retaining its richly distressed painted finish and intricate military decoration.

Custom shade and finial included.
