Design Plus Gallery presents an 18th Century Oil Canvas with Matte Black Frame of Unknown Artist 'Christ on the Cross'. This depiction of a tortured Jesus is likely from The Italian School as of this period and placement were known to emphasize the gruesome scene. As this is an unusual depiction of crucified Christ with his misshapen body. There is damage to the surface, relining that has occurred and is varnished on spots. As this is a framed but not glass covered piece surface wear is present.
