By varying … more In this "Madonna and Child," Francesco Solimena expresses several elements of his poetics with a fully Rococo delicacy. By varying the tones of chiaroscuro from the wavy cape to the child, the painter from Campania moves from the diffuse airiness of Rococo to a tenebrism more typical of Neapolitan Baroque. The canvas offered here constitutes an excellent example of the production that Francesco Solimena, assisted by his workshop, was able to devote to the domestic devotion of private collectors eager to possess a sampling of the work of the leading Neapolitan artist of his time. The strong plastic prominence of the figures emphasized by chiaroscuro suggests a dating in the early eighteenth century. Condition: Frame and canvas in need of restoration. The Chairish Buyer Guarantee ensures that you have complete peace of mind when
making a purchase on Chairish, in the event that your item:
- Does not arrive

- Prior to shipping or local pickup, buyers may cancel an order for any reason, with the exception of some Made-to-Order items, where supplies have been purchased or work begun on the item.

- Chairish Express In-Home deliveries are currently only offered for international cross-border shipments.

- Chairish Freight Delivery
- Delivered in a crate, to your front door.
- You will need tools and/or equipment to open the crate.

- Chairish Freight deliveries can take anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks.
- Only available in selected markets.
- Chairish In-Home Delivery
