The panel portrays a beautiful girl seated on … Read more Exquisite hand painted KPM porcelain plaque - probably one of the finest. The panel portrays a beautiful girl seated on a wood stool, daydreaming with doves at her bare feet. Her dark grey skirt is beautifully executed, she wears a little white cap and red bodice.
Signed lower right by Wagner. Appropriately framed in an extraordinary wooden frame composed of rosewood, ebony and other materials.
Hallmarked on the back with the impressed KPM scepter mark together with other impressed and penciled numerals & designations.
Exquisite condition. Some minor loss to frame.
19th Century.
The plaque is 9 1/2" x 6 3/8" x 1/4". The frame 15 1/4" x 12 1/4" x 1 3/4".

The Royal Porcelain Factory in Berlin (German: Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur, abbreviated as KPM), also known as the Royal Porcelain Manufactory Berlin and whose products are generally called Berlin porcelain, was founded in 1763 by King Frederick II of Prussia (known as Frederick the Great).
