Signed bottom right … Read more An energetic and bright watercolor on paper showcasing an example of modern American Impressionism by Harry Glassgold. Signed bottom right and dated 1949. The subject appears to be a rural town and the dwellings found within. The bright colors are contrasted with dramatic contrasting black lines which is typical to Glassgold’s style of artwork. Glassgold (1908-1984) was born Russian and spent his artistic career in Michigan. His profession was the art supervisor for the Flint, MI public schools as well as a Fine Artist. Glassgold’s artwork has been featured in exhibitions and museums including the MoMA, Minneapolis Institute of Art Collection, and National Gallery of Art. From a private collection. Dimensions: 26”h x 33”w x 2”d (framed). In very good vintage condition. See less
