This Italian Neo-Classic Walnut Arm Chair c. 1800 is unique for its period, which began around 1765 as a reaction … more This Italian Neo-Classic Walnut Arm Chair c. 1800 is unique for its period, which began around 1765 as a reaction to the Baroque and Rococo styles. Because walnut was so hard to come by, furniture of this period was often gilded to hide imperfections and poor quality materials. This chair, however, has no need for its natural beauty to be covered with 'make up.'

The chair has been freshly upholstered in a satin-like, durable fabric in a solid blush, with custom piping and bow ties in a narrow gray-and-pink stripe. The back cushion can be removed to reveal the hand-carved slats and sculptural rosettes. And there is a reversible toss pillow.

For a pull-up chair, this one is actually comfortable; its seat and back cushions are padded just right, firm but with some give. When not slid into a conversational grouping, this chair gracefully elevates any wall or nook it rests in awaiting the next gathering. Moreover, the choice of upholstery fabric would lend itself to a bedroom or more feminine setting because of the soft blush color. less
