Troemner's scales set the standards for precision and accuracy. He was commissioned by the U.S. Mint in Philadelphia to make their scales, performing so well that he was subsequently asked to make the bullion balances for the Department of the Treasury and in addition, the Mexican Mint, New York Assay Office and the San Francisco Mint.
