You'll find many uses for it, and in between uses proudly display it in "just the right spot." The opalescences looks best when the surface beneath is dark.

It's dazzlingly beautiful, as is the way with French opalescent glass.

One finds the name "Arrers" on especially high-quality French glass from the 20s and 30s, typically in the realm of tableware. This set is signed in the mold.

Altogether there are six very small dings on the top of three of the little bowls, none has a sharp edge and since the tops of those bowls are rounded, they're quite difficult to see. I've made them even less visible by applying a special acid, which frosts them and brings them into concert with the rest of the rim. One bowl has one "chip," one has two, and the third has three. They are very insubstantial and won't even be noticed by most people.

Dimensions: the serving platter is just under 9 1/2 inches in diameter, and the small bowls are about 5 1/8" in diameter. See less
