Two competitive American wicker companies merged at the end of the 19th century to form Heywood-Wakefield. Both were known for their high quality wicker products using hardwood frames and the best practices for weaving tight wicker and rattan designs. This
Heywood-Wakefield settee is from the 1940s and a great example of the quality produced by the company. It's extremely well made, sturdy and solid with wicker wrapped wood base under the seat and wood frame throughout. We love the criss-cross wicker design that encompasses the back, sides and front apron. The cross-cross design is evident on a much smaller scale on most wicker setters, chairs and tables by Heywood-Wakefield. Its wide use in this model is unique and lovely. The piece will last another 40 years because of the quality construction. It can be used both inside or outdoors under a covered porch, patio or veranda.
We are featuring a collection of LUXURY LIVING items on our front page. Treat yourself with a little luxury to kick off the New Year. You will never go wrong adding a statement piece that commands a room. Add a Scalamandre upholstered sofa, an Italian lamp or pair of hand-painted side tables, a gem from Maitland-Smith, Limoges porcelain, Charles Hollis Jones lucite, John-Richard lamps, a Faguays bronze sculpture, Murano, or American favorites Drexel, Thomasville, Ethan Allen, Habersham and Century Furniture. If you want a refresh a room, we suggest a new piece of framed artwork. We will also be adding Valentine’s Day décor and gifts soon. Click on VINTAGE HOME to the left to take you to our shop.
