This fine gouache and ink on paper by the famed American artist Henry Farny (Ohio, CA/France 1847-1916) depicts a young girl with a determined look on her face. Professionally framed and matted under glass with acid free backing. The painting dates to the late 1880s and probably portrays Alice in wonderland. Shows a strong presence with minor paper foxing throughout. This is a great piece and is ready to hang. A very affordable work for those of us that can not afford one of his native American scenes. Some photos show some flash reflection caused by the glass.
Dimensions: 7" x 9 3/8" (Sight). Framed: 15" x 17" approx.
Born in Alsace Lorraine, France, Henry Farny became a well-known American illustrator and painter, especially for quiet aspects of Indian life such as campfire scenes.
