A dramatic Expressionist style coastal scene showing a view of a breaking wave off the coast off Monterey, California.

Alberto Conti was born in San Carlos, Italy and first studied under the celebrated Italian Impressionist, Antonio Piatti. He arrived in Los Angeles circa 1930 and initially worked as an opera conductor. Conti specialized in landscapes and still lives painted in oil, acrylic and watercolor. In the mid 1940's, he moved to the Monterey Peninsula to concentrate on his art career. He exhibited widely and with success for almost forty years, becoming a member of the Santa Cruz Art League, Society of Western Artists, and the Pacific Grove Art Association. Conti's works are held in collections worldwide, including in Germany, Italy, Central America and South America and the United States.
