Extremely rare and hard-to-find extra large twin biomorphic shaped cast ceramic centerpiece console bowls glazed in a glossy dark emerald green tone with a parcel gilt rim.
These curvilinear organic inspired console bowls are unsigned and the origin of the maker is a mystery, However, they carry the look and feel of similar bowls made in the many renowned Southern California studios that dominated the studio ceramics industry during the early to mid century. The designers who created these surely must have been inspired by the other worldly artworks associated with Man Ray or René Magritte. Those two artists and Max Ernst one of the leading visionaries who helped develop the Dada movement by transforming reality to conjure a surreal consciousness.
The abstract fluid shape of these extraordinary centerpiece platters appear as thick and heavy while being smooth and round edged but they are hollow and made of a much thinner fired plaster shell that is glazed in a forest Green with and a touch of gold to highlight the top rim. Display them empty or use them as fruit bowls or add in some flowers or use them for dinner service to serve breads or rolls. No matter how you choose to display them on the coffee table, on a credenza or on a sofa console or entrance table they will certainly draw admiration from all who encounter them.
