An excellent rare original extra large Japanese History School poster. It came with a collection of 18 posters published in Japan, which were banned after the end of WW2 by the general headquarters of the allied forces. It was used in Japan, before the end of WWII. Published between early 1900s and 1940s. Brought to the US by a military staff member stationed in Japan after WW2. Mat and frame for display only. Good condition - age and edge wear.
The poster is depicting Lemitsu Tokugawa, the third Shogun examined feudal lords under him. He boasted himself that different from Leyasu, the founder of the government, and Hidetada, the second Shogun, his father, Lemitsu was ‘born Shogun’. He imposed several requirement to see their faithfulness.
