Moody interior scene by Muriel Kittock (American, 1919-1996). Against a far wall, there is an ornate bench with a metal back. The wall also has large double gate. In the foreground, there is a fountain with two potted plants nearby. Of particular note in this piece are the streaks of light that glint of the various metal ornamentation.

Signed "Muriel" in the lower left corner.

Muriel Kittock (American, 1919-1996) was born in Spokane, Washington. She attended the University of Montana and studied with Virginia Sherif, Ben Barnes, and Jim Logan. She was a member and co-chairperson of the Montana League of Women Artists, Montana Arts Council, and the Montana Institute of Arts, Fine Arts and Crafts Group. Kittock exhibited in juried shows in the Western and Midwestern US, and won numerous awards for her paintings in encaustic, oils, and prints. She was included in the 1973 edition of “The World’s Who’s Who of Women.” She passed away in 1996 in Great Falls, Montana.
