Striking figural terracotta sculpture by Indiana artist Anthony Lauck.
Anthony Lauck (1908-2001) was a lifelong priest, chair of Notre Dame Department of Art from 1960-1967, and the first director of Notre Dame’s Snite Museum of Art from 1962-1977. He studied at Columbia, Cranbrook Academy, and Alfred University. Numerous sculptures by Lauck can be seen around the campus of Notre Dame.
This piece was exhibited in 1991 at the Midwest Museum of American Art where it won a purchase award.
14”x10”x4” and quite heavy. Excellent condition.
