A still life if the Dutch Renaissance tradition. Spring daffodils take the stage with a carnation helebore, garlic and an onion, as well as false indigo seed pods. The painting measures 9 inches tall by 12 inches wide. The painting was created on a wooden panel that is 1/2 inches thick. The paint used was oil paint. The painting is signed on the lower right and signed on the back.
Marina Movshina is an American artist known for landscape painting, and for her illustrations of children’s books, as well as her botanicals. Her paintings have been selected for the exhibition of distinguished alumni at Carnegie-Mellon’s Centennial Celebration of its College of Fine Art, the Logan Center at the University of Chicago and the Harlin Museum in West Plains, MO. An elected artist member of the American Artists’ Professional League, New York, NY, she is admired for her skill as a painter and draftsman in the handling of space, depiction of light, and expert use of color. She received a B.F.A. from Carnegie-Mellon University and studied at the Art Students’ League, New York, NY, Washington University, St. Louis, MO, and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, IL. Marina lives in St. Louis, MO.
