This is a … Read more This Really is a Great Looking & Very Unusual Antique American Swing Handle Basket. Circa Early 1900s. This is a Large Size & Scale Basket is Rendered in the Classic "Picnic Basket" Style and Could have Also Been Use for Any Number of Everyday Utilitarian Purposes such a Travel, Shopping, Etc. The Basket is Completely and Very Well Hand Made & Hand Woven with Excellent Attention to Detail in its Features. Its Skeleton is Sturdily Constructed Out of Indigenous Brown Ash Wood Split with Interwoven Natural Reed Basketry. The Top of the Basket is Also Beautifully Constructed with a Substantial Solid Oak Frame that Accommodates the Double Slide Out Oak Slatted Top Access Panels. It has 2 Steam Bent Oak Swing Carry Handles. I Purchased this Basket on One of my Recent Picking Adventures in the Cape Cod Massachusetts Region. It is in Excellent Condition and Displays Beautifully. It Still Retains it All Original Varnished Oak Exterior that has Developed Wonderful Naturally Age and Use Acquired Patina and Color Giving it a Look that Cannot be Duplicated!. It is Sound and Strong - Perfectly Usable.
