Acquired at an estate auction … Read more A multi green varied size collection of old wine bottles dating from 1900 - 1940. Acquired at an estate auction in East Hampton, NY. Funny story behind these bottles which I won in a bidding war. A friend and myself were viewing the lots prior to the auction when we came across an old box with extremely dirty foggy bottles inside and I said I will bid on these. My friend looked at me and said are you crazy they are junk bottles. I still was intrigued since they were not your normal everyday bottles. Lot comes up for auction and I start bidding and it becomes a bidding frenzy, when my friend whispers in my ear they're ALL crazy! A few months later I had the bottles steam cleaned and polished. When my friend was visiting I showed her the bottles and she said " NO.... those can't be the same bottles they were black, these are green and gorgeous! You are not crazy after all. "

The moral of the story: There is beauty in dirt.
