Expertly handwoven in modern designs with a wool on cotton foundation, the Vintage Egyptian Kilim from the Fustat region of the Nile Delta measures 9'10" x 13'6". Similar to flat weaves, this rug features a flat surface without any pile, created by tightly interweaving the warp and weft strands on horizontal looms. The result is a visually striking design with crisp geometrical patterns. In addition to being lightweight and soft to the touch, kilims were also used for various purposes such as sofa covers, drapes, pillows, table covers, wall hangings, and even insulation against harsh weather conditions.
