Her work was significant to the … Read more Suzanne Duchamp-Crotti (1889 - 1963) was a French Dadaist painter, collagist, sculptor, and draughtsman. Her work was significant to the development of Paris Dada and modernism. She lived and worked in the shadow of her much older and talented older brothers, but held her own and made a difference. She and her husband, Jean Crotti established the “tabu” movement which was conceived as a more positive and creative offshoot of Dadaism.

This painting is atypical of her work as a Dadaist, but comes from a period from the 30s to the 50s when her health was poor, and she concentrated on still lifes with strong bright colors. In 2015 the New York Arts Exchange mounted an exhibit titled Suzanne Duchamp: Works on Paper. This painting was featured in the exhibit and in fact was used to advertise that exhibit.

This painting from the 1930s is in very good original condition with very little if any wear.
