This amazingly Rare One off Hermès Saddle Leather and Aluminium Prototype Dinning Chairs attributed to Michel Ducaroy for Ligne Roset France.
This incredibly rare set of four dinning chair is being sold on behalf of a friend who was gifted this by Michel Ducaroy. This set is believed to have been designed as a prototype for Ligne Reset at the beginning of Ducaroy’s time designing there, a period in which he went onto design the Togo lounge chairs in 1973. Each chair has Ducaroys ergonomic attention to detail being designed to support the body from the arched seat to the delicate aluminum S sweep seat-back.
This set of four is constructed in beautiful brown Hermès Saddle leather and the quality is absolutely stunning. The leather setting is finished to an amazing standard with hand pulled bands set together by hand pushed rivets that attribute the leather to Hermès in their iconic small round shape. The quality of the leather is 100% grade Hide sourced exclusively in Paris.
The Aluminium is impossibly sculptural, the detail in the way this Aluminium is set is only able to be completed by a metal artist. from the sweeping legs to the beveled back section, to the flowing liquid weld chair connection. The welds on this piece are seamless and completely unnoticeable, ensuring the level of craftsmanship is carried through in every aspect of this set.
This is a wonderful example of late mid century modernist design believed to be by an icon of the period. The design of these four chairs has never come to the open market and this is an opportunity to own chairs completely one off, they are the only example of this design achieved to an immensely high standard.

Very good Patinated Condition, the leather in beautifully rich in deep saddle tone and the quality prevails there is stunning patination that only adds to their charm, the aluminum is well preserved and shining there are some scuffs and scratches as would be expected after nearly 60s years. Some marks commensurate with age and please refer to the photographs. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
issues arising from misattribution
