Eugene Higgins (1874-1958) "Family Life" Sketches c.1920's
Wonderful collection of sketches by listed American artist Eugene Higgins.
A collection of family scenes. Small children and women at work, even a cat on the prowl.
These sketches are from the artist sketch book and are circa 1920.
The paper measures 9" x 12.5". The lovely frame measures 15" x 19"
Signed by the artist in the lower left corner.
Good antique condition.
Eugene Higgins, a painter and etcher, represented with sentimentality the impact of the homeless, depressed and less fortunate people of society. His passionate sympathy for the poor led him to generalize situation and location, painting archetypal situations rather than observed ones.
This is a fine opportunity to acquire an original collection of sketches by this artist.
