Each medallion contains a large Kaikalak motif, which consists of four opposing ram’s horns. The main border features large open blossoms, tulips, and ram’s-horn-style leaves, which echo the floral blooms that decorate each of the corner spandrels. A series of boteh Meander, rosette, and saw-tooth guard borders complete the design. The repetition of shapes and motifs sprinkled throughout imbue the composition with a great deal of visual interest and overall harmony. The unexpected use of purplish-blue and persimmon accents enlivens the otherwise earthier color palette centered on dark and light shades of brown and deep reds.
