June Nelson was quite a prolific painter in California from the 1960's to 1980’s. She painted mostly nautical and seascapes as her subjects. The realism of her work is stunning. She had a talent for allowing light to show through differing depths of water. She has been regarded as one of the top painters of seascapes in the world. It is so recognizable as are all Nelson paintings for the translucent quality of the waves, which seem to jump up and catch the moon's glow. The foam also has a unique character in her paintings and looks realistic.
