A vintage oil on canvas painting of a dancing Indian Kachina. The Pueblo cultures believe that spirit beings called Kachinas (or Katsinas) exist as a way for the great spirits to communicate with them. A Kachina has three aspects: the supernatural being, the man who dresses as a Kachina for ritual dances (he becomes the spirit), and the kachina figures given to young girls.
Artist is Gordon Crook 1921 – 2011. Dated 1980. Framed in a double gold wooden frame with linen liner.
Measures overall 24 ½” x 30 ¾”, painting 18” x 24. Good condition, no damage, see photos.
