Color lithograph "Apparuerunt Illis Dispertivæ Linguæ" (And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire..., Acts Chapter 2) … more Color lithograph "Apparuerunt Illis Dispertivæ Linguæ" (And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire..., Acts Chapter 2) from Salvador Dalí's monumental five-volume illustrated bible, published in Rome by Rizzoli, from 1967 thru 1969. This lithograph comes from the "Luxus" edition limited to 1499 copies. The print quality is superb and Albert Field notes in "The Official Catalog of the Graphic Works of Salvador Dalí" that if you examine the original paintings and lithographs side by side, the only way to distinguish between the two is the paint on the originals. Presented in a new 1-1/2 inch wide handmade antiqued gold wood frame, with a silk conservation mat, and protected by Tru Vue Conservation Clear® glazing, created by an old-world master having over 30 years of experience framing fine art. Mat opening size: 18-1/2 x 13 inches; overall size with frame: 24-3/4 x 19 inches. The print is in mint condition with brilliant colors, having never been previously displayed, and since framing is stored in a controlled environment away from light.

These works are a combination of offset lithography, continuous tone lithography, and serigraphy with an application of varnishes and metallic inks on a heavy stock designed specifically to hold up to the various techniques used. Included is the print, plus chapter pages printed on textured deckle-edged paper bearing Dali's watermark, and the chapter's title page printed on beautiful, fine Japon paper. A fine-art copy of the Colophon page is also provided. Signed and dated in the plate, with the date indicate the year of the original painting from which the print was made.

Salvador Dalí was simply one of the most famous and influential artists of the 20th century. Dalí's works were characterized by his unique and imaginative style, blending surrealism with meticulous attention to detail. His art often delved into the realms of dreams, the subconscious, and the irrational. He was deeply influenced by the psychoanalytic theories of Sigmund Freud, which can be seen in his paintings that depict distorted, dreamlike landscapes and bizarre, melting objects.

Dalí was not only a painter but also a skilled printmaker, sculptor, writer, and filmmaker. In addition to his art, Dalí was known for his eccentric personality and flamboyant style. He became a prominent figure in the Surrealist movement, a group of artists who sought to explore the subconscious mind and challenge traditional artistic norms. Salvador Dalí passed away in 1989, but his legacy continues to be celebrated, and his influence on the art world remains significant.

Some of Salvador Dalí's most iconic paintings include: "The Persistence of Memory" (perhaps his most famous painting), "Swans Reflecting Elephants", and "The Discovery of America by Christopher Columbus". Dalí was a prolific printmaker, with his most famous series of prints including "Biblia Sacra", "Divine Comedy", "Alice in Wonderland", "Changes in Great Masterpieces" and “The World of Currier and Ives as Interpreted by Salvador Dali”, the latter two series being published by the Phyllis Lucas Gallery.
