This antique (32 oz.) ironstone milk pitcher was made in England by James M. Shaw & Co. for what I believe to be the Pittsburgh Steamship Company. The Pittsburgh Fleet first took shape in 1899 when Andrew Carnegie was persuaded to develop his own fleet for the transport of ore to his Carnegie Steel Company. From the late 1800's into the early 1900's, James M. Shaw & Co. distributed china to restaurants, high end resorts, the navy and steamships. They were headquartered in New York and England.
