The primary part of the sculpture is made of mango burl which has been sandblasted, burned, dyed and painted, all of which he considered an experiment in texture. The sculpture rests on a piece of walnut which is a work of art in its own right. This is part of his Aloha Series, No. 38 Mango Burl. It is marked on the bottom of the bowl by the artist.
