Original Mid-Century French fashion design drawing for sport couture done in gouache. This piece is one of a collection of ours (see others in our shop) that features “sport couture” fashions for the chic woman and dates to 1945-46. It is signed in lower right by the artist who worked for the couturier at “Valerie Agathon, Sport Couture, 74 Avenue de Villiers, Paris”. At the time Parisian ateliers had their own designers whose fashions were then made by the atelier. This image was originally a store display, thus the unusual size. The designs are rich in color, style and details! Note makeup, hair, hat, shoes, accessories and the rear view in lower left. The design is clean, pristine, no age markings. (Please disregard reflection streaks lower left from photographing.) The gouache shows beautifully against the dark colored thick stock paper. Large in size for a fashion design, 12 x18 inches.
