This example manufactured in 1963, the first year of production, by Fritz Hansen, Copenhagen. Beautifully patinated beechwood and leather straps allowing the side to be lowered. Original cushions in "Savak" wool. Marked and dated by maker. The Spoke-Back Sofa is a classic Børge Mogensen design, first presented in 1945 at the Cabinetmakers Guild Exhibition as a proposal for the ‘furniture type of the future’. The sofa was not put into production until 1963. The sofa combines chaise lounge and conversation sofa in one piece of furniture that is practical and expressive at the same time. The light construction in solid beechwood with removable cushions means that the sofa can always be renewed as needed. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
