The lozenge medallions showcase jagged edges and anchored with complementary finials floating in an abrashed cut-out field of burgundy. Complementary spandrels and pyramids filled with stylized flowers and vines reach towards the centre. It is framed with a rose bouquet border and flanked with meandering guard borders. This antique Karabakh rug was handmade in the district of Karabakh - part of Azerbaijan, a country in the South Caucasus, just north of the present Iranian border. Also known as Karabakh Rug or Gharabagh rug. Abrash. Age wear. Hand-knotted wool. Made in Iran. Measures: 04'02 x 06'00.
