This is a Vintage Noritake Nippon Two-Handled Iridescent Porcelain Vase -- hand painted, hand decorated by Palmer Tiffany Studio, Bridgehampton, Long Island ca. 1911-1920 is the time, Noritake Nippon was making this blank piece of fine porcelain to be hand decorated by studios in the U.S. and Europe.
This luxurious two-handled vase is hand painted in a wonderful hue of green complimented by swirling the classic Tiffany blue on the exterior and finished in an iridescent glaze and a white gloss interior. The vase is signed on the bottom "Noritake Nippon" in the center and "Palmer Tiffany Studio" around the perimeter. The vase is in perfect condition with no imperfections and it still retains its outstanding finish. The iridescent vase demonstrates an early Art Deco inspired design that was in its infancy in the early 1900s.
Dimensions: 5 " high x 3 ½ " wide handle to handle.
Mary Palmer Tiffany (born: May 15, 1889 ) graduated with a degree in Design from Syracuse University in 1909. She was a well-known painter of porcelains and she ran a successful porcelain painting studio in Bridgehampton, L.I. for many years. Mary Tiffany grew up in Rose Hall (known locally as the Red House ) located at 2635 Montauk Highway in Bridgehampton, the Gothic Revival house built by her father Nathan Tiffany in 1875, and the same house where she lived and set up a separate studio for her work. There is not much information available regarding Mary Palmer Tiffany but this piece implies some influence by Louis Comfort Tiffany who may or may not have been somehow related to her. In any event, this piece stands alone as a desirable piece of early 1900s Art Deco porcelain.
