Next, the portrait drawing on paper was copied onto the block of wood. A wood-carving knife was used to carve into the wood surface every pencil mark drawn on the wood. Printing paint was applied with a roller over the wood surface in three layers of different colors from the lightest color to the darkest. The block of wood was covered first with yellow printing paint. Next, it was covered on some parts with blue printing paint, and finally black paint was applied onto the wood surface for the hair of the girl, and across the top of the carved surface without allowing any paint to spread to the bottom of the grooves. The light brown wood frame was never hung on a wall. Mary Abouchaar is an American citizen who resides currently in Los Angeles County, California. Her grandfather, Alexander Abouchaar helped the British when they colonized Egypt. He was not of Egyptian birth. There were only ten original prints made. No additional prints were ever made.
