This is a really beautiful, intricate Satsuma cup and saucer that dates to the late Meiji early Taisho period and … Read more This is a really beautiful, intricate Satsuma cup and saucer that dates to the late Meiji early Taisho period and is painted with the immortals or warriors, one of them on horseback, all of them have elaborate samari armor and two of them have samari helmets. They all have swords drawn. This cup features a wonderful dragon handle. The saucer has the Shimadzu family crest on and the mark on the bottom is in red with gilt. The condition on this piece of Japanese art is very good but there are two faint lines on the inside of the cup by the handle, that cannot be felt and four black dots in the cup, with no chips or stains. The saucer measures 5 1/2”W and the cup measures 2”H x 3 1/2”W. See less
