Very large African Dogon statue from Mali, seated man wearing clothes. First half of the 20th century
The statue is very large indeed, about the size of a 10-year-old child seated.
Monumental statue of a seated man dressed in cloth over his body and head.
Probably a representation of an African slave.
We have found only one statue resembling this one, and it is in the Musée Régional Gbon Coulibaly in Côte d'Ivoire.
A label is stuck on the arm: Private property of Bernd Jansen
from a private collection in Tarbes.
The statue shows signs of wear and tear. Damaged toe, cracked wrist.
