Corrie McCallum and her husband William Melton Halsey were the preeminent abstract painters of the South. Based in Charleston they were pioneers of Modernist art in Charleston. This painting is signed illegibly lower left. The oil on canvas is a bright abstract, titled on the back Away dated 1990 and signed again on the back. The painting comes with a small letter from the artist to the owner, the painting came from the estate of Dan and Mary Udell.
