Add some whimsy to your table scape with this beautiful vintage catch all set by Georges Briard in the Fancy Free Hot Air Balloon pattern. Gorgeous colors of royal blue, light teal, green, and rich metallic 22k gold details make these pieces a great addition to any space. Each hot air ballon features a unique design, some adorned with a fashionable person in the basket. Both pieces are marked with the Georges Briard logo. The smaller of the two still has the Glass Guild gold sticker intact. Great vintage condition. Wear consistent with age. Minor discoloration.

Georges Briard, originally named Jascha Brojdo, gained renown for his exquisite vintage glassware, serveware, and household items.

Born in Russian Ukraine in 1917, he later moved to the United States, where he studied art, served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and eventually adopted the name Georges Briard at the suggestion of Max Wille, differentiating his commercial work from fine art.

Briard's award-winning designs, spanning materials like glass, ceramics, metal, and wood, featured opulent, mid-century modern aesthetics with influences from Art Nouveau and Venetian styles. His iconic creations, adorned with colorful patterns, butterflies, and geometric abstractions, were popular from the 1950s to '70s, gracing high-end department stores and the homes of fashionable hosts. Today, collectors highly value his unique pieces.
