Faience is not peculiar to Quimper, indeed it is made in various places throughout Europe, but the Quimper faience is quite distinctive. Pottery has been made in Quimper for a very long time, but the faience that we recognize as Quimper has been produced since the late 17th century.

Item condition: Minor manufacturing imperfections on the glaze. One small firing crack inside. Some crazing. The fissures in the surface glaze occurred during the firing process and are original to the sculpture. Age weathered surfaces. See photos for complete assessment.
