Jimmy Lee Sudduth (1910-2007)…One of the “elder” statesman and master of Black Folk Art in America. Schooled in the segregated south even a one room school house. Didn’t learn to read or write but made the best of the situation painting with mud on stumps in the woods as a child. His mother encouraged and the work began. His paintings are in major privately held collections of folk art, outsider art and self taught art.
Been collecting Sudduth for close to 40 years and have never had a Tryptic from Jimmy Lee Sudduth.. Pretty cool a happy family.
