Michael Sarno’s Bio:
Ever since Michael Sarno was a child, he has been making art…drawing, painting, sculpting; always creating. It’s his first true passion. Inspired by his father’s artwork and his various abstract painting techniques, Michael has created wonderfully vibrant modern abstract paintings, using drip & splashing techniques, and, most recently, utilizing spray paint as a medium. He has been experimenting with a variety of industrial materials- perforated plastic, metal, wire screens, rubber mesh, etc. as templates/stencils to help create vibrant and electric pieces. Michael’s work is exuberant, colorful, and full of energy. He is inspired by the many wonderful colors and shadows that occur in nature, as well as man-made geometric shapes and patterns.
For nearly 25 years, Michael Sarno has designed and developed some of the Furniture Industry’s most iconic collections. 20 of those years, he was designing Ralph Lauren’s Furniture Line. In addition to designing countless furniture collections over the years, Michael has also developed interiors & lighting, as well as commercial showrooms. His designs have been, and continue to be, featured in many national & international magazines, including: Architectural Digest, World of Interiors, Elle Décor, House & Garden, NY Times Design Magazine, Wallpaper, Surface, etc…In 2018, after 20 years of design experience at RL, Michael decided it was time to open his own multi-disciplinary Atelier, focusing on creating elevated Interiors, Furniture, Lighting, and Branding: STUDIO MARENZO.
For almost a decade now, Michael has also been giving time to his passion for educating Design Students at both the Undergraduate and Graduate levels at Pratt Institute, in Brooklyn, NY.
