Meticulously hand-carved and finely polished in old style, this piece features a rare and desirable He-Mo type (河磨料) Xiuyu in yellowish-green, adorned with brownish and white mottling patches. The hardstone's texture is mild and moist, while the surface boasts a natural oily sheen. Displayed on a fitted hardwood (Hongmu) base, the carving is in overall good condition with some natural fissures and minor signs of age and handling. Mid 20th century. Former private Connecticut collection.
