This classical pair of lamps are a mystery to me in some ways, with their gorgeous leaf overlays and Greek handles. They show the influence of great French lamps and urns from Barbedienne and Levillain with their graceful urn form. But the marks are numeric, 8104 on each lamp, and another set of marks that are difficult to decipher. Other than that, there are few clues to their origin.
Depending on your taste the gilt could be restored to brilliant bronze dore! Or not.
The harps show some rust, and one of the four original clamps that holds the base of one of the harps is missing. There are also signs of oxidation on the edges of some of the leaves near the base. These rare lamps are functional and beautiful.
