This is a spectacular pair of fireplace mantle spills in the style of Egyptian Revival with a camel being ridden by a Bedouin with a lady alongside. They are beautifully painted in green and lavender with camel done in cream and tan. There is no damage to this fantastic pair. The smaller of the pair measures 8 1/2”W x 10”H and larger and more elaborate of the two measures 11 1/2”W x 10 1/4”H. In the larger sculpture lady is holding a jug in one hand and offering him a drink with her other hand , the Bedouin in this sculpture also has a dagger in his hand. They each have vases in the back of the sculpture to hold the spills for starting the fire. These are not marked with country of origin or maker but they look to be Amphora from 1850-1890 before marks were required. These would have been the height of fashion when Egypt was so popular in home interiors and jewelry. They would look fabulous on a Victorian mantle and you would need both of them.
