A complex abstract cityscape performed by esteemed artist and educator Norman Ackroyd, born in Leeds England in 1938. The painting titled "Entrance to a City" , was one of a bunch that the artist made during the years of 1963-1964, and the work shows exploration of both materials and composition. Ackroyd is a fellowed professor of printmaking and engravings at the Royal College of Art in London. A mesmerizing mixed media work of intricate thought and process.
Painting is now unframed and relieved of a 1980's metal student style frame. Ciao !
The Painting was shown in the 1964 "YC64" or new artists show at the Royal College of Art in London, where Ackroyd was working on his masters degree in Printmaking and Painting.
