This is part of Chairish’s Costume Jewelry assortment.
Five years after founding his fashion house, Hubert de Givenchy began dabbling in scents. His muse? Audrey Hepburn, of course. The actress had become a close friend and loyal customer and adored the floral perfume with notes of spice, bergamot and fruits that he concocted in her honor. In fact, she loved it so much that when he told her he planned to market it, she replied, “But it is my perfume, I forbid you!” L’Interdit or “The Forbidden,” as he called the fragrance, became wildly popular and the first in a long succession of successful beauty releases for the French label. This necklace bottles up that history in a pendant. Although the perfume within the vial suspended from a gold-tone link chain is long gone, its scent still lingers. The vial itself is crafted from a polished faux tortoise, a striking backdrop for the gold-tone embellishments it bears. Among those embellishments is a ball top and the Givenchy logo, the iconic four Gs first introduced in the Seventies and designed by perfume packaging master Pierre Dinand. “Luxury is in each detail,” Givenchy once said. This collector’s piece that looks as chic today as it did thirty years ago is truly a little luxury to behold.

This Vintage Givenchy necklace from the Seventies is in excellent Condition. It features a perfume bottle pendant made from a tortoise-like plastic that may be Bakelite. Highly polished, it provides a luminescent backdrop for the gold-tone Givenchy logo and ball-cap closure. The gold-tone chain link necklace the pendant suspends from connects at the cap’s sides. The necklace opens at the top with a clasp, besides which hangs a small logo plate reading, “Givenchy Paris New York 1977.” High-quality vintage pieces like this are yours to live in and love while increasing in value every year. It’s never too soon to start collecting them, as an investment in your wardrobe—and in yourself.

- Chairish Freight Delivery
