Chinese porcelain Pearl of Light Kuan Yin, finely carved and detailed in Longquan kiln celadon with unglazed, dark purple, Zisha … Read more Chinese porcelain Pearl of Light Kuan Yin, finely carved and detailed in Longquan kiln celadon with unglazed, dark purple, Zisha stoneware for the body of Kuan Yin and the rim of the base. Kuanshiyin, the one who hears the cries of the world, is in a lotus sitting pose, on a large lotus throne, which is atop a large, ganoderma, Ru Yi scepter which is floating on the ocean waves below it. She has the wisdom eye on her brow and is clothed in flowing robes, her left hand holds The Pearl of Light, a gift from the Dragon King, and her right hand and arm cradles a Ru Yi scepter. The included, finely carved and detailed, traditional, Chinese, hongmu, stand is decorated with beast head and claw-footed legs, and reticulated, plum flowers and acanthus leaves centered on each of the four sides. Circa early 20th century, no later than mid century.
