Royal house antiques royal house antiques is delighted to offer for sale this super rare, original globe wernicke, haberdashery shops filing bookcase cabinet
an exceptionally good looking and well-made piece, there were a number of companies making this type of bookcase in the late victorian era up to present day, the finest are by far and away made by globe. The quality of the craftsmanship is simply out of this world. This is the only one of its type i have ever seen, you have traditional library bookcase shelves to the top followed by four large drawers, you then have two butlers serving trays or sorting shelves, finally you have metal lined filing drawers with sprung file condensers, these are absolutely sublime and as rare as they come, without exaggeration i have bought and sold hundreds if not a few thousand stacking bookcases and looked at tens of thousands in auctions and private estate sales, this is the one and only of this type i have ever seen, in truth, i didn't even know they existed until i purchased this piece as mentioned, these are modular stacking bookcases so you can buy other sections that are the same and make them larger or if you have a small space to fill remove a section to make it smaller. Condition wise for the era is sublime, it has been cleaned waxed and polished and is ready to go, the top section of back board has been replaced
