Royal Doulton Flambe Monkeys figurine signed Noke. This pattern, known as 'Mother and Baby' or 'Cuddling Monkeys', has a backstamp which dates this piece after 1930. The actual date is unknown.
It is in good condition with no cracks or chips. There are a few small spots of imperfection, including a 1/8" size scratch on the back and a pinhead size spot on the back of the head.
This figurine has a striking red glaze called flambe. First debuted at the St Louis exhibition of 1904, it was inspired by ancient Chinese techniques and later perfected by Royal Doulton. Flambe is a rich, deep-red color glaze, from a firing method that uses copper oxides and other materials
